MASONIC HISTORY
When I returned to BTM in London I was sent to work in Glasgow one day in Glasgow and moved to Carlisle back to Glasgow in 1959 I met Ethel her father proposed me into Lodge Clyde after we were engaged: in February 1962 we married and, on the 3rd August 1962, I was Initiated along with 4 others, on the November of that year I was at the meeting and one who had been called for the Passing failed to turn up and I received my Passing by Lodge Millincroft No 1515. I had to wait until 1963 to be Raised.
In 1964 I was installed as Master Steward in 1966, I had my first taste of Degree work I carried out the Raising Signs and Tools: and by 1968 had reached DoC but had to leave office as I had Meningitis and was in Hospital in 1969 I was back in hospital with Meningitis and it was 2 years before I was fully fit.
I returned to Architect in 1972 in the year I conferred a First Degree with 3 other office bearers and was told it was too many it should be 2 or 3, that is when Daniel McQuillan and I started to carry out First Degrees together and alternate between first part and second part a degree split in two. I progressed through the offices and made JW in 1978/79 SW 1979/80 and Master 1980/81.
In 1990 the JW brother John (Ian) Kidd said his knees were so bad he would not proceed to SW Brother David Buchannan PM and I discussed who would be the SW at the committees request and I was the SW and the Master 1991/92.
During the following years I conferred several MMMs degrees with Daniel McQuillan as conductor we were back doing what we enjoyed.
In 1999 I was asked as I was now retired would I be the Lodge's Millennium Master I said I wished to speak to all the PMs and office bearers for there opinion before accepting I was again master the year that followed was a whirlwind of visits and degrees. The committee meeting for the recommendations started as planed the year 2000/00 with all offices
filled.
The night of the AGM I was running late having been at the lodge to setup the hall there seemed to be something not quite right but I went ahead as normal the Lodge was passed and raised and nomination started, I was proposed as Master when it came to the position of SW I Clarke who was SW and the Name of Stanley Melville the election both members retired and S. Melville was duly elected I was very pleased to see Stanley back in the Lodge as we had a great 2 years together.
After this term as IPM I applied to join The Provincial Grand lodge of Glasgow again as I had more time being retired this time, in 2008 I was asked by the PGM William Gilmore if I could refurbish the Computers if the office after completion with Charles Winston, we set up the internet and Email that has become more advanced over the years I received Honorary Grand rank of Bible Bearer for services to the Craft. I have enjoyed my time visiting again with Provincial and have reached the office of Provincial Grand Junior Warden or perhaps it should be Junior Warden in The Provincial Grand Lodge of Glasgow
